Expedited dispatch: answer the urgent load first, at the right rate
Urgent freight goes to the carrier who answers first with a truck that fits. Expedited dispatch is about speed with a check built in: is the truck close, does it fit, does the rate cover the rush. We work through that fast so you can say yes while the load is still open.
From tender to booked: an EXAMPLE sequence
- 00:00Tender comes inA broker needs a box truck for a same-day run, pickup in two hours.
- 00:03Checked against your truckDistance to pickup, box length, liftgate, weight and your hours left today.
- 00:06Counter sentUrgent loads carry room to negotiate. We ask for the rate the rush deserves.
- 00:09You say yesYou get pickup, delivery, rate and anything that matters. One reply.
- 00:12BookedRate confirmation signed and sent to you with the pickup details.
EXAMPLE sequence. Real timing depends on the broker, the load and how fast you answer. It is not a promised response time.
DOCK 02WHY SPEED PAYS
Why speed pays on expedited freight
Expedited loads exist because something went wrong for a shipper: a missed truck, a production line waiting on parts, a customer order that cannot wait. When the clock is the problem, the shipper pays for the fix.
That is the opening for a small carrier. The broker with an urgent load calls or messages several carriers at once, and the first truck that is close, fits and can commit often gets it. A good rate on a load you answered too late pays nothing.
Speed without a check is how carriers end up running a rushed load at a normal rate. We do both: answer fast, and make sure the rate covers the rush and the empty miles to get there.
DOCK 03REQUIREMENTS
What you need for expedited dispatch
- A truck that fits urgent freight
- Box trucks 26 ft and larger and hotshots fit urgent partials. Semis fit urgent truckloads.
- Availability you can stick to
- Tell us the hours you can take a load on short notice. We only send urgent tenders inside them.
- A fast yes or no
- Urgent loads move in minutes. Answering quickly is the biggest thing you control.
- Clean paperwork
- Brokers book urgent loads with carriers they can set up fast: active authority, current insurance certificate, W-9 ready.
- Team drivers, sometimes
- Long urgent runs that cannot stop for a 10-hour break need two drivers. Solo drivers take the shorter ones.

Expedited and hours of service
Urgent does not change the rules. A solo property-carrying driver can drive up to 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off, inside a 14-hour window, with a 30-minute break after 8 hours of driving. Teams can keep the truck moving because one driver rests while the other drives. We only offer you loads that your hours left can legally cover.

"Expedited means driving all night."
Not with us. Loads are matched to the hours you have left, and you set when you are available. Long overnight runs are for teams.
"Brokers want teams for everything."
For long, non-stop runs, yes. Some urgent loads are short or regional and fit a solo driver in one shift. Those are the ones we look for.
DOCK 04FEE
What expedited dispatch costs
There is no rush fee. You pay the same percentage as any load: 7% for one box truck or hotshot, 5% for one truck of another kind with 6+ months of authority, 7% while your MC is under 6 months old, and 4% for 2 or more trucks (limited-time rate).

DOCK 05FAQ
Expedited questions
Q-01What is expedited freight dispatch?
Dispatch for time-critical loads: freight that has to move today or overnight because a shipper is out of time. The dispatcher watches for urgent tenders, checks them against your truck and hours, negotiates the rate and gets your yes fast, so you can book before another carrier does.
Q-02Do box trucks get expedited loads?
Yes. Urgent freight is often a few pallets or a partial load, which can fit a 26 ft box truck better than a semi. Parts, retail restocks and missed shipments are common examples. A liftgate and the ability to load quickly help.
Q-03Do expedited loads pay more?
They can, because the shipper is paying to fix a problem fast. How much more depends on the lane, the distance to pickup and how many trucks are available. We counter every urgent tender and count the empty miles to reach it into the rate.
Q-04When can I reach a dispatcher?
We confirm desk hours on your first call. Tell us then when you want to take expedited tenders, so we know when to send them.
